Nebraska Women’s Basketball Rolls Past Pitt, 70-54

Huskers improve to 8-1 on the season with a win over the Panthers

LINCOLN, Neb. – Ashley Scoggins scored 19 points and Alexis Markowski added a double-double as the Nebraska women's basketball team defeated Pittsburgh 70-54 on Sunday afternoon at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

The Huskers improved to 8-1 on the season with the win, while the Panthers fell to 3-4.

Nebraska shot 45.5% from the field and held Pitt to 35.0% shooting. The Huskers also outrebounded the Panthers 42-33 and had a 16-6 advantage in second-chance points.

Scoggins was 7-of-13 from the field and 3-of-6 from three-point range. Markowski finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season. Jaz Shelley added 12 points and six assists for the Huskers.

Pitt was led by Dayshanette Harris, who scored 15 points.

The Huskers took control of the game in the second quarter, outscoring the Panthers 21-10 to take a 36-25 lead at halftime. Nebraska extended its lead to 15 points in the third quarter and cruised to the victory.

Nebraska will return to action on Wednesday, December 14, when it hosts South Dakota State at Pinnacle Bank Arena. Tip-off is set for 11 a.m.
