Who's Ahead in National Presidential Polls?

Do Voters Want Republicans Or Democrats In?

Wednesday's New York Times/Siena College poll is an outlier.

On November 5th, Americans will go to the polls to elect their next president. According to a recent poll by the New York Times and Siena College, Joe Biden leads Donald Trump by 41% to 40% among registered voters. However, the poll also found that Trump was favored 40% to 35% on foreign conflicts and terrorism. Biden, on the other hand, had the edge over Trump on responding to political extremism (52% to 39%) and the economy (51% to 42%).

These results are somewhat different from other recent polls, which have shown Biden with a larger lead over Trump. For example, a poll by the Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research found that Biden led Trump by 9 percentage points among registered voters. And a poll by the University of Michigan found that Biden led Trump by 7 percentage points among likely voters.

It's important to note that the New York Times/Siena College poll is an outlier, and it's possible that other polls will show different results. However, the poll does suggest that the race for the presidency is still very close, and that either candidate could win.
