Jamal Murray Discusses Future with Denver Nuggets

Exclusive Interview with TheAthletic

Nuggets Star Talks Long-Term Goals, All-Star Snubs

Denver Nuggets guard Jamal Murray has opened up about his future with the team, his thoughts on being snubbed from the All-Star Game, and his supermax contract prospects in an exclusive interview with TheAthletic.

Murray, who was born on February 23, 1997, has established himself as one of the top guards in the NBA since being drafted 7th overall by the Nuggets in the 2016 NBA Draft. He has averaged over 18 points per game in each of the past four seasons and helped lead Denver to the Western Conference Finals in 2020.

In the interview, Murray expressed his desire to remain with the Nuggets long-term. "I love Denver," he said. "I love the city, I love the fans, and I love the organization. I want to be here for a long time."

Murray also discussed his disappointment at not being selected to the All-Star team this season. "It was tough," he admitted. "I thought I deserved it, but it is what it is. I'm going to use it as motivation to get better."

The Nuggets guard also addressed the possibility of signing a supermax contract extension with the team. "It's not something I'm thinking about right now," he said. "I'm focused on this season and winning a championship. But it would be a dream come true to stay in Denver for the rest of my career."

Murray's comments come at a time when the Nuggets are looking to make a deep playoff run. The team is currently third in the Western Conference and has a legitimate chance to contend for a title. Murray's leadership and play will be key to Denver's success.
