Lakers Clinch Playoff Berth with Victory Over Pelicans

LeBron James Leads the Way with Triple-Double

Los Angeles Lakers 124, New Orleans Pelicans 108

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - LeBron James put together another impressive performance, recording a triple-double of 28 points, 17 assists, and 10 rebounds as the Los Angeles Lakers clinched a berth in the 2024 NBA Playoffs with a 124-108 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday night.

James, who turned 39 earlier this season, continues to defy age with his all-around play. In the first half, he tallied 13 points, six rebounds, and 13 assists, helping the Lakers build a 70-53 lead at halftime.

The Lakers' dominance continued in the third quarter, with James adding six more points and five assists. The Pelicans, led by Zion Williamson's 25 points, made a run in the fourth quarter, but James and his teammates held on for the win.

With the victory, the Lakers secured the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference. They will now face the No. 1-seeded Denver Nuggets in the first round of the playoffs.

In addition to James' triple-double, Anthony Davis added 20 points and 13 rebounds, while Russell Westbrook chipped in with 18 points and nine assists. For the Pelicans, Williamson finished with 25 points, while CJ McCollum scored 22.

The Lakers will now have a few days off before opening their playoff series against the Nuggets. The first game of the series is scheduled for Monday, April 17, in Denver.
